How To Understand Your Wife

June 30, 2005 (One Response)

Understanding Your WifeWell now, we’ve covered some ground this week so far concerning why women live longer than men and also taken a quick look at the obvious differences between men and women when it comes to literary pursuits, however now it’s time to look at the way men and women process things, specifically the differences in use of language and meaning ;)

The following guide is a life saver for married men, so pay attention. I present to you, the Guide To Understanding Your Wife, a compact translation of wifespeak to English. Read it, learn it, remember it… ‘cause it might just save your life one day!!

Battle Of The Sexes - Writing Styles

June 29, 2005 (One Response)

Battle of the sexesIn keeping with the Male Vs Female theme this week I decided to dig up another example worthy of publication. I have StevieB to thank for this - as I’d lost my original copy of this wonderful item many moons ago - and he kindly forwarded me this gem earlier this week. Therefore I now give you another classic in the genre which shows just what can be produced when men and women truely work together ;)

The following extract is from a class challenge handed out by an English Professor, and it perfectly demonstrates just how different men are from women. It’s a bit of a read, but stick with it - it’s worth it! :)

Why Women Live Longer Than Men!

June 28, 2005 (4 Responses)

Idiot LogoIt’s a well known fact that women live longer than men, but did you ever stop and ask yourself why?. I came across some stark evidence today which pretty much spells out just how dumb the male of the species is. After reading / viewing the evidence, you will start to wonder just how the human race ever got this far, let alone to the moon and back…considering 50% of them are male. Honestly - some of these photos have to be seen to be believed…

eBay (Ireland) - Crappy Site Issues

June 26, 2005 (5 Responses)

eBay.ieIs it just me and the way my browser is configured, or does everyone see a completely shite page when you browse to eBay.ie? I decided to try out the new Irish site (which was only launched a couple of weeks ago) and figured I’d register, login and try to sell some used PC games or something - for the first time in my life. Upon browsing to the site and I was greeted with the ugliest page I’ve ever seen and what appears to be lots and lots of missing images, probably button images.

I checked my browser settings, did the whole trusted thing and even looked at letting cookies in for this site, but it still persists in offering up a shitty site, with crappy layouts and makes the process of actually trying to sell or buy something quite painful on the eyes. Is it just me or does anyone else see these issues? Further - if it is just me - what do I need to change in my browser settings to sort this out? All help greatly appreciated…thanks in advance :)

Battlefield 2 - First Impressions

June 25, 2005 (7 Responses)

Battlefield 2So I convinced myself to part with some hard earned cash for the latest greatest PC game known as Battlefield 2. This is a First Person, Squad Based, Online Shooter with the very latest game engine/technology to boot.

I’m playing this on a beast of a PC, but I’ve read in some reviews recently that it runs on medium spec’d systems as well so you should have no worries there (It’s not another Half Life 2!!). I’ve had this game now for approximately 2 days, and been playing it on and off for probably about 8 hours… so here are my first impressions of this new PC title.

Ice Station by Matthew J Reilly (Book Review)

June 23, 2005 (2 Responses)

Every now and then I get the urge to read some light hearted trash. I generally refer to this type of read as a ‘holiday’ or ‘airplane’ book. Something that doesn’t require too much thought, which pulls the reader along page by page and keeps the entertainment value high, without requiring much by way of investment from the reader. Sometimes I’m just in the mood for books like this… sometimes I just want to be entertained without learning anything whatsoever :)

Ice Station by Matthew J Reilly is just such a book, concerning the exploits of one Lt. Shane “Scarecrow” Schofield and his recon team of marines as they converge on an Ice Station in the Antartic in order to secure potentially one of the most amazing scientific discoveries of the century from competing hostile forces.
