Passenger Paranoia Out Of Control
August 21, 2006 (No Responses)
MY USUAL BROWSE through the Sunday newspapers this morning turned up a disturbing story from the UK that goes something like this…
Passengers on a flight from Spain to England refused to allow the flight to take off until two men were ejected from the plane. The reason? The men in question were of middle eastern origin, had been heard speaking what is presumed to be arabic and (here’s the clincher) they were checking their watches a lot and wore leather jackets.
The passengers absolutely refused to allow the plane to take off until these poor (and let me stress innocent) men were thrown off the flight. The airline agreed to put them up in a hotel for the night, and rescheduled them for another flight the following day – but they still missed their original flight.
These men had already passed all the checkpoints, security measures and examinations before the flight. Then when the passengers were kicking up a row they allowed themselves to be subjected to further checks by security personnel, twice in fact, which proved beyond a doubt that they were just normal travellers… but still the passengers insisted they be ejected from the flight; all because they looked wrong, spoke a foreign language and made a bad fashion choice (leather jackets in the summer).
It’s wrong. Just plain wrong. Mob rule has taken over; logic is out the window and innocent people are suffering as a result. The bullshit security alert last week in the UK has yet to actually produce any evidence of a bomb threat but ever since then people have bought into all the hype and are running scared, just like the Governments want them to.
Politics is now driving the people, instead of the other way around.
Must be close to an election or something
