New Site Design In Progress (Again)

November 2, 2005 (No Responses)

Site DesignAs regular readers will remember, I’ve attempted to update the design of this site a few times, the last time resulting in the complete failure of a certain design outfit (you know who you are!) to deliver anything whatsoever, excepting of course the refund I demanded back. So - I’ve taken it upon myself to move the site from a 2 column design to a 3 column layout instead of getting anyone else to do it

Right now I’m working on an interim look and feel over at my test site (called “Test @ The Moon!” appropriately) so you can get a sneak peek of what’s coming if you follow the link. It’s not exactly what I want yet, but it will enable me to prune some plugins, redress some space usage issues and change the general design as a first step towards a complete makeover on the site. The test site is also running the latest version of WordPress (V1.5.2) so once I’m happy with the new design, I’ll transfer it to the live site. Hopefully all will be finalised within a week or so. It’s all a bit of a work in progress at the moment (changing each night as I do more work on the new theme)

If you have any suggestions for the new site - please feel free to leave a comment on this post and I’ll take all comments into consideration. Essentially I’ve already decided to drop the polls, the image headlines, the preformatting and the advertising in the sidebar. I’m looking at improving the search, commenting, feeds and gallery functionality. So - if you have opinions, let me hear ‘em :)
